EPJA Tu B'Shevat Celebration
We will be celebrating Tu B'Shevat in school next Wednesday, February 8th. We are asking families to bring in goods to make this celebration special by Monday, February 6th.
Tu B'Shevat is the 15th day of the month of Shevat and marks the New Year of the Trees. We celebrate Tu B'Shevat when most of the winter rains have passed in Israel, and the sap is beginning to rise in the trees. We honor the rebirth of nature by tasting the seven species or types of fruits and grains that grow in Israel: barley, dates, figs, grapes, olives, pomegranates, and wheat.
We are asking that students bring in the following, as assigned by grade level. Each child should bring enough for 10 people.
Grade 1: Almonds
Grade 2: Olives
Grade 3: Almonds
Grade 4: Dried Cranberries
Grade 5: Dates
Grade 6: Dried Figs
Grade 7: Grapes
Grade 8: Raisins
(please make sure all items have a hechsher or kosher symbol)
